M-Wave Flex vs Firm

Choosing between Flex and Firm mainly determines how the blade behaves when force is applied.

M-Wave Flex

The Flex tube uses less material near the bottom of the tube, allowing the blade to flex more while cornering.

This creates a more dynamic and responsive skating feel.

The M-Wave Flex is generally better suited to lighter skaters or skaters who prefer more flex and responsiveness from their blades.

M-Wave Firm

The Firm tube contains more material at the bottom, creating a stiffer construction.

This allows the blade to maintain its characteristics when subjected to greater forces and is generally better suited to heavier or more powerful short track skaters.

The result is increased stability when applying high pressure to the blade.

Standard vs Flattop

In addition to choosing Flex or Firm, the M-Wave is available with two different tube profiles.

Standard

The Standard tube has a higher cross-section through the centre of the tube.

This increases stiffness and helps the blade maintain its rocker when force is applied.

Flattop

The M-Wave Flattop has a lower cross-section and therefore offers more flexibility.

Under load, the tube can flex more, allowing the rocker to become flatter during the skating stroke.

This gives experienced skaters another way to fine-tune the behaviour of their short track blades.

Higher short track blade setup

Modern short track skaters increasingly use higher blade setups to create additional clearance between the boot and the ice.

As standard:

M-Wave Firm: +5 mm
M-Wave Flex: +3 mm

Different ST-Cup configurations are also available, allowing the setup to be further adjusted to the individual skater.
